Analysis of temperature and humidity processes in intensive vegetation roof layers
Sukopová, Dáša ; Solař, Jaroslav (referee) ; Mohelníková, Jitka (referee) ; Vlček, Milan (advisor)
The presented dissertation deals with the analysis of temperature and humidity processes taking place in the layers of an intensive vegetation roof with a larger layer of soil - the roof garden. The aim of my dissertation is to provide more accurate information for the design of the roof covering using the properties and benefits of the vegetation layer of the roof garden. One of the most important advantages of roof gardens is the cooling effect of the vegetation formation in the hot summer season. The work also deals with the idea of wider use of roof gardens for the so-called rooftop farming, which is becoming more and more popular in the world. Otherwise, unused roof areas can make up for the lack of areas for gardens, which are especially lacking in big cities.
Foundations in Volume Unstable Soils
Legut, Dana ; Weiglová, Kamila (referee) ; Hauser,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Zdražil, Karel (referee) ; Vašina,, Josef (referee) ; Paseka, Antonín (advisor)
This dissertation is concerned with the foundations in volume unstable soils and objects disorders which are related to this. The thesis was focused on the study of clay and loess soils which are abundant in the geological profile of the Czech Republic. First, the formation of the two groups of soils is introduced, then their properties are examined and finally the influence of vegetation on the former type and the influence of collapsibility in the latter type are investigated. The conclusion is, in fact, a recommendation on the design of structures so that the system of clay / structure is not damaged and that structures are not subject to renovations. Several instance of problems with structures are discussed which were subject to structural repairs employing both a civil and geotechnical engineers.
The attitudes and knowledge of pre- and in - service teachers on the topic of plant role in human environment under the global climate changes
ŠEVČÍKOVÁ, Kristýna
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of mutual interactions between vegetation cover and the atmosphere in the period of global climate change. The aim of this work is to determine the level of knowledge of teachers and students of science teaching together with their views on the teaching of this topic in practice at primary school and in out-of-school education. The literary introduction outlines the issue of mutual interactions between vegetation and atmosphere, together with the anchoring of this topic in the framework educational program. The practical part of this work comments on the results of a questionnaire for students of science teaching and the results of a questionnaire designed for science teachers. Based on the results of this survey among students and teachers, a teaching unit was designed for use in out-of-school education at the primary school level.
Students understanding of the interdisciplinary relations on the topic of the role of vegetation in solar energy distribution and water content in the landscape
HOTAŘOVÁ, Natálie
Presented thesis focuses on interdisciplinarity in teaching - interdisciplinary relations between biology and other natural sciences - physics, chemistry, geography and maths in correlation with the issue of the role of vegetation in the landscape. In relation, theoretical chapter partially concentrates on the role of vegetation in landscape, its position in Framework Educational Programme, problems of STEM education and the definition of other important terms.Aim of the thesis was to determine, how are pupils capable of apllying of interdisciplinary relations. Practical part sustains of obtaining the data through a survey using questionnaires. The intention was to find out how are the students familiar with the theme. in lower classes of multi-year grammar schools in the year of studies paralel to the ninth grade in primary school. Results of the questionnaire survey are summarized in conclusion part. The survey was led in verbal and graphic form and the results were used to determine the level of comprehension the interdisciplinary relations and their practical applications.
The role of vegetation in the solar energy distribution and the water cycle in the landscape - an impact of inquiry based education on pupils understanding
BRČÁKOVÁ, Tereza
This article brings the results of the survey aimed on the impact of inquiry based education on the students' knowledge of the role of vegetation in the solar energy distribution and the water cycle in the landscape, which was realized at four schools. The introduction presented the issue of the role of vegetation in the solar energy distribution and the water cycle in the landscape. Further, the bachelor thesis presents problems of inquiry based education, and also implementation of inquiry based science education on this theme in elementary schools education and grammar schools education relating to didactic textbooks. The outcome of the thesis brings the results of the survey made by pretest and posttest forms. From the data collected follows that inquiry based education increases the pupils' knowledge of this topic. Knowledge regarding distribution solar energy by plants is important for understanding water cycle in landscape and evidence based water economy, which can reduce losses of water in a local measure and mitigate subsequent drought.
Soil evaporation and its controlling factors
Fröhlich, Lukáš ; Slavík, Martin (advisor) ; Mareš, Jakub (referee)
Evaporation is one of the basic members of water cycle, affecting a wide range of natural processes. The importance of the study of evaporation is even greater under conditions of climate change. This bachelor thesis focuses on soil evaporation and its controlling factors. The way in which water moves in porous media is described, and the terms evaporation, transpiration and evapotranspiration are defined. The division of the soil evaporation process into three phases is described and relative evaporation rates characteristic for the different phases are summarized. The relationship between evaporation and the spatial distribution of moisture inside soil is explained. The influence of internal and external factors on the evaporation rate is then described. It is assessed whether these factors contribute to higher or lower evaporation rates and under which conditions this occurs. It is evaluated whether the degree of influence of these factors is constant or whether it varies according to the circumstances and the evaporation phase in which the factors operate. Key words: evaporation, transpiration, evapotranspiration, evaporation phases, flow of underground water, external and internal factors of evaporation
Effect of water supply on structure and selected physiological parameters of leaf in woody species.
Horešovská, Michaela ; Lhotáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Votrubová, Olga (referee)
Woody plants must cope with drought as it is one of the main factors of the ongoing climate change. The ability of woody plants to adapt to this stressor determines whether they will survive in constantly changing environmental conditions. The deciduous trees of European temperate forests are not as adapted to drought as Mediterranean trees and shrubs, and therefore the lack of water is a major stress for them. Leaf turned out to be the most flexible plant organ in its response to drought. The aim of this work is to summarize the knowledge about the effect of water deficit on the anatomical structure of leaf and its selected physiological parameters. The first part of this thesis is focused on the drought affecting European tree species and their various defensive strategies against this factor. It mainly describes the modification of leaf's anatomy structure as their defensive reactions observed in dermal, ground and vascular tissue. The second part of this thesis is devoted to the influence of water deficit on the selected leaf's physiological processes, especially on transpiration and photosynthesis, and the key role of stomata closure on both of these physiological processes. Drought causes changes in leaf anatomical structure and its physiological functions. The leaf's developmental stage at...
